Saskatoon Nutana Lions Club Projects

·        Super Duper Flea Markets – Over the past 30 years the Saskatoon Nutana Lions Club has held, on average, three Super Duper Flea Markets annually in Hall D, Prairieland Park at Saskatoon's Exhibition grounds.  Our show dates for 2011/2012 are on the following Saturdays: October 1st, 2011 and February 11th, 2012

Over 200 stalls are filled with displays ranging from crafts, jewellery, antiques, collectibles, furniture, clothing, food products, including specialty foods and fresh baking.  Also, audio and visual supplies including CDs, DVD items, toys, health products, sporting goods and games and pretty well anything you would find in your local garage sales and much, much more, with everything indoors and in one exhibition hall.

This is a great outing for the entire family.  There is a small admission fee with all proceeds to support Lion's projects and charities:  Adults -- $4.00, Students under 12 -- $1.00, Preschoolers -- Free.

We also welcome new vendors.  Display spaces are available through advance reservations for a 10' x 10' spot for as little as $35.00.  To register or for more information, please call us at 291-3964.

·        Texas Hold’em Tournaments- Our Club along with the other 3 Lions Clubs raises money by sponsoring 4 of 12 yearly poker tournaments.

·        Salvation Army Christmas Kettles- we provide manpower to ring the bells at various city locations prior to Christmas.

·        Tabs for Tots – we collect aluminum popcan tabs that we sell to a junk metal dealer. The funds are used to send children with diabetes of low-income families to summer camps.

·        Used Eye Glasses- Our Club picks up used eye glasses at various optometric offices and other retail outlets. These are shipped to Calgary where they are graded and shipped to third world countries to be given out to the poor people (see www.clerc.ca).

·         Assistance to the C.N.I.B. - we assist the local CNIB office by delivering and collecting for their Lottery Calendar. We also provide manpower in the selling of the CNIB Car Raffle tickets.

·        Lions Band and Saskatoon Speedskating Club– we provide financial assistance to both of these organizations.

·        Mega Cash Ticket Raffle – we sell tickets for the Mega Cash project. We have raised $100,000.00 that will financially assist the city in building a Lions Pavillion at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and and Zoo. Our previous project was financially assisting the City with the development of the Lions Skateboard Park.

·        Campaign Sight First Two- This was a 3 year Lions Clubs International program that ended June 2008 and raised over $200 million US dollars to be used in getting rid of preventable blindness such as river blindness and reversible blindness such as cataracts. Our Club has pledged $6,000 to this campaign.
